How to Book a Nigerian Passport Appointment (2026 Guide)

Travellers at the airport — booking a Nigerian passport appointment avoids the queues

Your passport appointment is the step that decides how long the whole process takes. Miss it, book the wrong centre, or arrive without the right documents, and you are back at the start. This guide covers how to book a Nigerian passport appointment in 2026 — where to do it, what you need, and how to get a slot that is not weeks away.

Where passport appointments are booked

Passport applications and appointments run through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) passport portal. You complete the application form online, pay, and then schedule an appointment at a passport office or enrolment centre for your biometrics capture and document check. Booking at the right centre is half the battle.

What you need before you book

A valid, correctly linked NIN
Your personal and contact details, matching your records exactly
Payment for the passport type and validity you want
Your supporting documents ready to upload or present

Insider tip: Appointment availability varies hugely between centres. The office nearest you may be booked out for weeks while another within reach has slots in days. Checking more than one centre — and being ready to travel a little — is often the fastest route to an early appointment.

How to book your appointment, step by step

1. Complete the passport application

Fill in the online application for the passport type and validity you want, entering every detail exactly as it appears on your NIN.

2. Pay the official fee

Pay through the approved channel and keep the reference — you cannot schedule until payment is confirmed.

3. Choose your centre and slot

Select a passport office or enrolment centre and the earliest available date. Compare a few centres rather than defaulting to the busiest one.

4. Confirm and save your booking

Save or print your appointment confirmation and the list of documents to bring.
