You registered the birth, you attended the capture, and now there is silence. The hardest part of a Nigerian birth certificate is often the last mile: knowing whether it is ready, getting to the collection centre, and actually having it in hand. This guide covers how to track your application, how collection works, and the pickup and delivery options that save you the trip. Use the helper below to see your next step.
How to track your application
Tracking an NPC application comes down to three things: your registration reference, the centre that handled it, and a point of contact who will actually check. Keep every slip and reference number you were given at registration — they are what any follow-up starts from. If you used a handling service, tracking should be one message away; if you registered yourself, you follow up with the centre that captured you.

Collection, pickup and delivery
There are three ways a finished certificate reaches you:
- Collect it yourself at the centre that produced it, with your reference and ID.
- Pickup service — an authorised person collects on your behalf, useful when you cannot attend in person or are abroad.
- Delivery service — the certificate is sent to your address once collected, so the last mile is handled for you.
For families in the diaspora or far from the issuing centre, pickup and delivery turn a flight or a long drive into a single message.
Common questions
Can someone else collect it for me? Yes, with proper authorisation and identification. This is how pickup services work.
How will I know it is ready? You follow up using your reference. Do not assume you will be contacted automatically.
Can it be delivered abroad? Getting it to you overseas is usually a matter of collecting it in Nigeria first, then forwarding it. Ask us about your country.
